Most people do not know who people like Eric Gill are, what they do, or why they are important.

However, Eric Gill very likely has had an impact on you in your everyday life, possibly without your knowledge. He has given us one of my favorite things: a form of expression, a typeface or “font” as it’s modernly referred to, by the name of Gill Sans. Gill’s typefaces sometimes come pre-installed on people’s Home and Work computers.

Eric Gill’s life is a remarkable story, one I have never really looked into or read, I sadly and ashamedly admit this.  However, through a collection of essays, Gill takes us on a journey from his time as youth fascinated with technical drawing, to his labor of love carving letters into stone, right up until the finalization of his professional career.
