COMME DES GARÇON MAKES ITS MARK ON TRETORN
Cultures clash when Japanese fashion brand, Comme des Garcon and iconic Swedish brand, Tretorn bring together outdoor-classic style with cutting-edge fashion. The classic Tretorn T-56 and Nylite silhouettes are used as a canvas for the collaboration. Unique inscriptions of ‘liberty’, ‘himalaya’, ‘spirit’ and ‘training’, which have inspired the Comme des Garcons upcoming collection, appear in hand-scribbling on the upper of each shoe.
The product is in select Comme Des Garcons and Tretorn stores as well as a few other boutiques. More info and pics after the jump.
The T-56 is a signature style and a throwback to Tretorn’s heritage shoe from 1956 but with modern updates. Maintaining the old-school charm and vintage look as the original, it’s a low-profile, lightweight, flexible shoe made from shirting fabric. The intricate vulcanized rubber toe and midsole make it casual, yet sporty and smart.
Born in 1967 and soon regarded as the first luxury sports shoe, the Nylite canvas tennis shoes reigned supreme on the courts around the world in the 1970s. Today‘s Nylite maintains the same timeless design, but now boasts a new Waxwear ™ material which helps them to withstand moisture for those light summer showers. Available for both men and women, the original distinct “v” toe shape and lightweight rubber outsole feature the same timeless, deconstructed design.
Based on timeless design, functionality and effortless style, Tretorn is the perfect blend of casual fashion and purposeful creation. Created to be a utilitarian yet stylish collection - Tretorn is inspired by the outdoors. Collections of footwear, apparel and accessories created for their quality, comfort and seductively simple designs. It has been and will continue to be a wardrobe staple.
French for “like boys”, Comme des Garcon is a Japanese fashion label headed by Rei Kawakubo known for avant-garde style and unique tailoring.
