Crooks & Castles recently opened their new Con.Cept Shop location on Sunset Blvd. This spot will only carry Sunset products and everything will be made in the U.S. Plus, all products will be exclusive and not be carried at the Melrose flasghip or any other accounts. Crooks will also feature their home products, accessories and utilize the space for a revolving art exhibit with various artists. The store is super clean, check the pics.

The Spizike Boot looks exactly as you would expect it to: an upper that ties very closely to the Spizike sneaker, reworked with a boot body and midsole. It features key Jordan fusion elements from the original like the triangular lace holders from the AJ4, the lace lock and mesh from the AJ5 and the tongue of the AJ6. The upper is a mix of nubuck and leathers, with some pieces textured to imitate the elephant print. The outsole is blue with light speckling. The heel sports the likeness of Spike Lee’s iconic character “Mars Blackmon” originally from the movie “She’s Gotta Have It,” but more well-known in the sneaker world for being the pitch-man for Air Jordan commercials in the early 90’s. 10.Deep and St.Alfred presents the Pre-Lollapalooza Extravaganza tonight in Chicago at Empire Liquors which is in Wicker Park. There will be a live performance by Donnis (10.Deep’s newest mixtape artist). His album “The Diary of an Atlanta Brave” comes out today, and it features artists like Justice League, Just Blaze, and Ryan Leslie. The extravaganza starts off with DJs Skyler and Vic Lloyd, so get excited!
Everybody whose been waiting, you no longer have to wait anymore because the NBA 2K10, although not yet rated, is set to be released October 6 for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Playstation 2 computer entertainment system, PSP system, Wii system from Nintendo and Windows PC. NBA 2K10 is expected to be even more realistic, with more detailed graphics, and a richer simulation experience. NBA 2K10: Anniversary Edition will only be available for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. John Downer, a world acclaimed letterer and typographer is having an exhibition of hand lettered posters at Reserve on Thursday, August 13th from 8-11PM. He has been working with Freshjive to help out with t-shirt designs and coincidentally, 4 of the graphic t-shirts release on the same day as his exhibit (shown after the jump). Before dropping their full-length LP in 1993, The Rumpletilskinz (Jeranimo, Sha-Now The Remedy Man, R.P.M. and Capitol L.S.) tore shit up alongside The Leaders of the New School on the mega posse cuts “Sound of the Zeekers” and “Spontaneous.” Like L.O.N.S, the Rumpletils rep for suburban Uniondale, L.I., favor shouted choruses and bassy beats, and devote a lot of mic time to relating their worldviews and depicting everyday happenings. However, the Rumpletils debut is refreshingly devoid of the childishness that permeates early L.O.N.S material. The foursome put on a loud, unruly show, solidifying their connection to the aggressive Brooklyn-Queens rap styles of the day. Many listeners will be inclined to compare their vibe to that of Onyx, due to the shouted choruses and the presence of a Chyskills-produced cut, but the Rumpletilskinz style is extremely difficult to pin down.
For all the crews that claimed to display “mad flavas” or master “many styles” these kids were among the few to show and prove on record. Sha-Now’s flow is unusually breathy and meanders to a near-slur only to come back on track with well-timed changes in pitch; Jeranimo is brisk and precise but still makes use of varying inflections; R.P.M. and L.S. possess raspy, menacing growls. On tracks like “Earthquake” and “Hi Volume” the strident, crowded verses sound great over the distinctive combination of dusty, filtered samples and peculiar keyboard noises. The mischievous single/video “Attitudes” is certainly a highlight, but the record’s true gem is “Hudz,” a rowdy, rolling affair capped off by Sha-Now’s triumphant poetics that detail his gradual attainment of knowledge of self.
