Finally made it out to The Roots Jam Session. It was my good friend Derek Jackson’s birthday (he found The Roots, Lords of the Underground) so he was able to drag me out and get me to the Highline. We caught a great medley with DoItAll (Lords of the Underground), Craig G, Marley Marl and Tarik on all rocking on stage together, classic material. Check it out.

In all my years of being one of those people that gets a lot of free stuff, i have to say this Vespa GTS 250 has got to be one of the best things yet. I’ve lived in NY for 16+ years and have gotten around the city on public transportation, cabs, taxis, foot and have even owned a car but nothing beats zipping around on this scooter, at least in good weather. It cuts down on costs like parking, gas and metrocards and is just so much easier to maneuver through city traffic. I have put over 200 miles on it in the 4 weeks I’ve had it and the killer is I’ve only spent $11 on gas, gotta love that!
I will be updating my travels (Views from the Vespa) each week as i hit different different spots. Below are some of the places i have been and people i’ve hung out with while cruising the city on the Vespa.

On Friday 18th September, Nike Sportswear and Mercury Music Prize winning recording artist Dizzee Rascalwill release the very special, and strictly limited, Nike Air Max 90 ʻTongue Nʼ Cheekʼ sneaker. Created in aspecial partnership between Dizzee, Nike Design and long-time Dizzee collaborator and creative director, Ben Drury, Dizzee describes his Nike Air Max 90 as “Stylish but simple. The Air Max 90 is pretty much THE street shoe, ʻinnit? It’s quite sporty, but when you get the right colours you can wear it with anything. But withthis one we tried to keep it quite plain so it could complete any outfit. It’s functional and there was a pretty deep design process involved”.
Drury, who has designed the artwork for three of Dizzee’s albums, including his new record ʻTongue Nʼ Cheekʼ, said, “We’ve had a long standing creative relationship dating back to Dizzee’s first album, ʻBoy In DaCornerʼ. Independently, we’ve also both had close links with Nike and it just made perfect sense to come together on this project and join the dots. It was an organic, almost unconscious process.”
The Nike Air Max 90 ʻTongue Nʼ Cheekʼ will be available exclusively from Nike Sportswear at 1948, London on Friday, 18th September, 2009.
