Since the unfortunately death of DJ AM, many have wondered if the Nike Dunk he designed will ever release. DJ Premier recently mentioned on his show that the DJ AM Dunk was still on schedule and earlier today Kasina confirmed this by surprisingly releasing them. This collaboration Dunk features DJ AM’s logo on the tongue, black patent leather wrapping much of the shoe, red premium leather for the toebox, side panels and the upper heel while a light grey swoosh and a white midsole round out the shoe. A unique feature are the three rows of perforations along the heel with 3M underneath, similar to the dots of a Technics Turntable for RPM reading. Nike SB and HUF have teamed up this November for the QuickStripe Blazer. The Nike SB blazers are available in two colors: brown, and an off-white tan. Eddie Cruz and UNDFTD have held a strong position in street culture on the West Coast. They got together with Nike to rework the iconic Air Force 1 for a special cause. This new shoe follows the ‘Artist Series’ collection that was auctioned for charity in July, and uses the LIVESTRONG foundation as a basis for its’ design.

There is a comparable feel to the Nike x UNDFTD Air Force 1, released in 2006. Incorporating the pallet of colors of black and yellow which are so well associated with the LIVESTRONG and the fight against cancer. More notable facet’s of design which can refer to the release of 2006 are the ‘Shemagh’ textile used on the front half of the sneaker as well as the ‘ONYABIKEKID’ slogan, which replaces the ‘ONYAFEETKID’, a theme that strongly refers to the origin of UNDFTD. The shoe combines the numerous references to create a unique background to its design.

The sentiment and meaning of this shoe runs deeper for Eddie Cruz, who recently suffered a serious personal illness. Creating this shoe with the intention of raising awareness for a good cause, you could say was extra motivation and the outcome goes beyond the world of sneakers and sport. “I support LIVESTRONG and Lance Armstrong. He was one of the first people to send me a message of support when I got my brain tumor. Lance told me to stay strong,” said Eddie.

STAGES launched at the Emmanuel Perrotin Gallery in Paris with a team of the world’s most accomplished and promising international artists, including Ed Ruscha, Cai-Guo Qiang, Richard Prince, Catherine Opie, KAWS, Eric White, José Parlá, Christopher Wool, Tom Sachs, Dzine, and Rosson Crow. The second part of the journey took place in New York City hosted by Deitch Projects where the team picked up four extra members with new works: the Os Gemeos twins, Futura and Dustin Yellin.

The finale will take place at one of the art world’s biggest global events: Art Basel Miami Beach. To create an even louder voice LIVESTRONG, STAGES called in Los Angeles based Christian and Rob Clayton, aka the Clayton Brothers, the furious paintings from Erik Parker and the black and white portraiture genius of artist Tomoo Gokita for a high energy show full of talent and spirit. All artwork on display as part of STAGES will be available for purchase with proceeds directly benefiting LIVESTRONG.

On Wednesday, Nike threw an event to celebrate the release of DJ Clark Kent’s East Warrior AF1 and apparel release at the 21 Mercer store in SoHo. VIP guests were able to purchase the kicks and gear and were treated to the sounds of the man himself. He killed it while everyone drank and ate.

This year is the 20th anniversary of De La Soul’s classic debut, 3 Feet High and Rising. In honor of this achievement, DJ Mick Boogie and Terry Urban have just released a free mixtape LE DA SOUL: A Tribute to De La Soul paying homage to the beloved Long Island-bred group.
