FTC For the Cash Event Recap

What originally started as a simple idea for a FTC team rider to skate the shop’s handrails for an ad turned into an all-out FTC For the Cash contest last Monday night. Starting at closing time Sunday night, the store’s merchandise and fixtures were removed in order for the pro construction team, led by George Rocha, to start the skatepark setup. A day later, a new FTC skatepark had been assembled in what was a busy retail space only 24 hours ago.

The FTC For the Cash contest was a one day invitational best trick competition with each rider skating in 20 minute heats. The first place winner would take home $5000, while the second and third place winners would net $2000 and $1000 respectively. The contest was packed with many familiar faces as pros, amateurs, photographers, and industry heads, such as Lizard King, Matt Miller, Theotis Beasley, Jeff Pang, Jack Curtain, Josh Kalis, Keith Hufnagel, and Stevie Williams, came out of the woodwork to be at this epic event. A special congratulations goes out to the winners of the contest, Peter Ramondetta, Ishod Wair and Evan Smith. Check out all the images from the event below and head on over to The Berrics later today to peep the video coverage.
