Known Gallery is honored to present “WORKS/FIRST”, a collection of new abstract work by Carl Rauschenbach based on a continuation of a theme he has been developing since 2004. The exhibit will open on this October 23rd, at 8pm.
At LTD Magazine we like to present a diverse range of news from around the culture, daily happenings in our world and a dose of our unique perspective. Therefore, we thought it would be cool to share our top ten highlights (In no particular order*) of the week. Hope you enjoy!
Blank Label
Blank Label is actually the company behind a really cool iPad/internet app that allows the user to customize his own button-down shirt(s). If individuality and originality is your thing then Blank Label’s selection of fabrics and styles may be a good look for you. Despite what you think when you hear “custom made” they are actually really reasonable, starting at about $45 and going up. Check it out here. image via BoyGeniusReport.
Kickstarter
An innovative and (financially) safe way to “pay it forward” and support burgeoning creative minds that may not have the necessary resources to realize their dreams. We think this is great because so many potentially “game-changing” ideas never see the light of day due to lack of resources and it is great to see such a well thought out and executed means of addressing this problem. Go here to start researching and changing the world one idea at a time.
Palmer Trading Company Opens (And LTD Visits!)
Recently, we got a chance to go check out the newly opened Palmer Trading Company. The small, vintage goods shop evoked the feeling of stepping into an open time-capsule. We recommend that your next visit to SoHo include a stop at this gem. Check out their blog.

Mishka x Ellen Stagg Fall 2010 Lookbook
New York brand Mishka teams up with photographer Ellen Stagg again on its Fall 2010 Lookbook and presents the pieces in a slightly more interesting way (well maybe at least to the male Mishka fans). Streetwear brands are doing more and more creative things with their lookbooks these days, using them more as a platform to create art as opposed to only previewing product. Just an observation, more images over at HighSnobiety.
DJ A-Trak ft. Cyhi Da Prince: “Ray-Ban Vision”
In anticipation of the Fool’s Gold Compilation Vol.1 set to release Oct.25th, A-Trak gives us a sample with “Ray-Ban Vision” featuring G.O.O.D Music recording artist Cyhi Da Prince. The compilation will be available in limited numbers and only at Opening Ceremony. Give the “trak” a listen.
To round off our list this week is one of the most talked about performances on the “interwebs” this week. We of course are referring to the G.O.O.D Music cypher that aired on the B.E.T Hip-Hop Awards on Tuesday. The cypher included verses from Kanye, Pusha T, Big Sean, Cyhi Da Prince, and Common dressed in their “Rosewood” uniforms. Conspicuously absent was new G.O.O.D signee, Mos Def but let’s hope he was busy making some “G.O.O.D” new music (see what we did there?). Enjoy the video and see you next week with a new list.
Crooks & Castles presents the CMJ “BK Live”, where some of the coolest rappers are all together under one roof, in one of the homes of hip-hop, BK, this tuesday October 19th. Check out the flyer for more info

Going into the Palmer Trading Company shop felt like stepping into a time warp of the early 1900s, sans the flux capacitor. It’s a small vintage apparel, trinket, and furniture store that just opened its doors this past Tuesday on 137 Sullivan St.The particular smell and overall aesthetic feel of the store, from the sliding wooden panels to the John F. Kennedy cups, all give the consumer an instantaneous sense of nostalgia. The shop prides itself on selling authentic United States produced items, with the exception of their cigar club mustache back chairs from France.
They have a compass produced in 1911, their Louis Vuitton travel trunk is from 1908, and the wood paneling that encapsulates the store dates back 250 years to colonial Massachusetts. The best part of all, though, is that you can buy anything that’s in the store.Everything from their original Esquire magazines to the vintage Rolex watches are up for grabs.Next time you’re in SoHo, swing by and say what’s up to the knowledgeable shop personnel David, Willy & Dio.

The non-profit Harold Hunter Foundation, held their annual event to honor the legacy of New York icon and renowned skateboarder, Harold Hunter. HH Day IV was made possible through generous support and donations from Zoo York, CCS, DVS, Camp Woodward, Red Bull, and Harold’s many friends.
A crisp fall morning followed by warm afternoon sunshine ushered in this year’s event, which was the largest HH Day ever with close to a 1,000 skaters and spectators in attendance. A vast majority of attendees participated in the skate jam that ran from 1-5pm and featured two best trick contests, live music from DJ Smoke L.E.S. and friends, appearances by local pros, and several large product tosses that included 2 gift certificates for a complimentary one-week session at Camp Woodward next summer.
Once the skate jam was a wrap, an all-ages happy hour was held at the Lower East Side cafe/art gallery, Panda NYC. The casual get-together featured a Harold video retrospective by RB Umali, and photo montage by Paul Park and Akira Ruiz.
HH Day IV also marked the official launch of the limited edition DVS x HHF Shoe Series featuring classic Harold photos by Giovanni Reda. Now available at select shops nationwide, DVS will donate proceeds from the sale of these exclusive shoes to the HHF to help further its mission of using skateboarding as a vehicle to provide inner-city youth with valuable life experiences that nurture individual creativity, resourcefulness and the development of life skills.
Check out the pics, o the skate jam and the after party.
