[FILM] Goodnight Goodbye: A Beautiful Evening In A Closed Mind

Goodnight Goodbye: A Beautiful Evening In A Closed Mind from UnkleLuc on Vimeo.

“Through the lights, cameras, and action, glamor glitters and gold” - Nas

Over the past few years the Miami music and arts scenes have truly flourished. The Wynwood Art District area is flush with art galleries that are bustling during the monthly “Art Walk” festivities. It also helps to have a resurgence in creativity every Spring and Winter with Art Basel and the Winter Music Conference. While Miami is known for their established art and music staples such as  Romero Britto, the MSG Cartel, Rick Ross, and DJ Craze, a ‘New Miami’ is surfacing with fresh talent and perspective. We’ve discussed some of the members previously in our “New Found Hype” article.

I want to shift your focus to a duo of directors,Luc “UnkleLuc” Alexandre and Andres “Personal” Antonio, whose moving portrait entitled “Goodnight Goodbye: A Beautiful Evening In A Closed Mind” takes you on “a journey through a dreamers mind.” This abstract video, left open to your imaginative interpretation, has a haunting narrative voice that guides you through the various stages of the subject’s world, accompanied by an apt soundtrack keeps your mind on edge. Watch this video twice. Not for the sake of views, but to attain a clear cognizance and understanding of what you just processed. It is definitely not what you initially thought it to be. Have fun with this rabbit hole, Alice.

[TECH] Vimeo App For iOS

Ever wanted to take advantage of your shiny new iPhone 4’s HD video capabilities without having to go through the hassle of uploading the clips to your computer? Well fret not! Vimeo has recently released a free alternative to Apple’s $5 iMovie application. It allows you to view existing Vimeo videos, of which mobile Safari cannot support, and allows you to shoot, edit, and upload your newly created films. Also, the application gives you options with regards to the quality the video is uploaded, which means you won’t have to settle with the horrible quality of compressed movies

Download the Vimeo application. Go into the world and generate some stories. When you’re finished, send us a tweet @LTDMag to tell us what you think.

[GEAR] Twelve Bar “Brand New Funk”

I received a box from the crew over at Twelve Bar this weekend. It was packed with some pieces from their Spring 11 line which included some selvage denim, a ill sweater, a hoodie and some tees. I love their tees, always have crazy imagery. If you’re not up, make sure you check them out and get familiar.

Shout to Nick and the crew, It’s All Love!

[VIDEO] Fat Beats Pop-Up Shop

406 Avenue of the Americas.  On the second floor, right above the Bagel Buffet. Sandwiched in between the Natural Market and Qdoba, with Gray’s Papaya a little further down on the corner.  That is where the esteemed Fat Beats record shop once stood in New York City.  Album art is no longer displayed in the window pane and emcees are no longer harassing passers-by next to the front door.  The Fat Beats New York store officially closed shop in September of 2010.

Though it never truly died, with Fat Beats Records still in full effect, a resurrection of sorts occurred on March 5th.  Fat Beats’ warehouse, 110 Bridge St., 3rd floor, opened its doors to the public for its first retail pop-up shop in Brooklyn.  Familiar faces were abound with everyone from the owner Joe Abajian to Bobbito Garcia in attendance.  DJ Evil Dee, DJ Spinna, & Rich Medina held down the tunes while DJ Eclipse managed the hell out of the event, and somehow managed to get more camera time than anyone else.  There was still a missing presence, though.  For Record Store day, please allow for the public to be greeted by the great Percee P at the door.  Joe & Eclipse, you too Stone’s Throw if you’re somehow reading, make this happen!
