Robin Kegel is the founder and board shaper at Gato Herói, an innovative longboard surf company based in Capistrano Beach, CA. The name Gato Heroi (”Cat Hero”) emphasizes Robin’s unique sense of humor, along with his disdain of ‘hot doggers’ in the water flailing about wearing leashes (most Gato Heroi boards have no leash attachments).

He designed two boards based on Japanese folklore hero Momotaro and is auctioning them off for the Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Relief fund (A GlobalGiving Project).

Hot on the trails of last week’s G-Shock collaboration/birthday celebration, Nigel Sylvester is back with another Gatorade “All Day Sessions” commercial. This time he rips through California’s Bay Area, with fellow BMX rider Ralphy Ramos. They literally ride throughout the area all day, into the night, create a mini BMX flash-mob, and end it the Benny Gold storefront for a Dom Kennedy show. Last night - Insane. Some of us are trying to recover from a hangover, while some are still trying to figure out why were lines forming over at the Hotel On Rivington stretching from corner to corner. G-Shock teamed up with Nigel Sylvester for the release of the new dope watch, which then led to last nights insane event. DJ Clark Kent and the Brooklyn Bandits were on the 1s & 2’s, while Modelo and Hennessy filled our cups. Thanks to everyone who came out last night, and special thanks to Pharrell for stopping by to show our homie Nigel some of that #popawheeliefresh love.

We continued our Rooftop Event Series with an evening of Summertime movies, The Warriors and Do The Right Thing, music, tacos, and of course Michelada’s infused with only the finest of beers: Modelo Especial. To commemorate the closing of MOCA’s Art In The Streets exhibit along with Levi’s Film Workshop, a collaboration project will be unveiled Saturday, August 6th. The Levi’s x MOCA Trucker Jacket will pay tribute to the great Keith Haring. This is the final jacket in a series of special, limited edition Levi’s x MOCA jackets, created by Shepard Fairey, KR, and more, which were released every two weeks throughout the duration of the Art In The Streets exhibit. The Keith Haring jacket, along with the full Levi’s MOCA collection, will be available at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA along with Mocastore.org, this Saturday.

Levi Strauss is teaming up with outdoor apparel specialists Filson for a second collaboration capsule collection. A total of five men’s pieces will be available, in limited quantities, on Monday, August 8th. Make sure you point your browsers towards Filson.com and Levi.com, the only two locations where the collection is available.

Dust La rock, resident graphic mastermind, came up with the idea and curated the Fool’s Gold Artist Series. The first collaboration in this series features graphic prints and t-shirts by JK5 and Cody Hudson. To celebrate the launch, they’re throwing a little soiree at the new store in Brooklyn 536 Metropolitan.
