Movies, Summer '11, Video, film

Levi’s® Film Workshop has recently premiered a film series based on food, called “The Hunger”, in conjunction with the Art in the Streets exhibition at The Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. Three films were screened, based on the three stages of food and cooking: Growing, Preparing, and Serving. The film below, “Feast of Fury”, is an action film based on a popular food truck in Los Angles, Koogi BBQ, that has beef with a competing truck. English subtitles with extremely fast Spanish dubs creates the illusion of an old Times Square Kung-Fu flick.

Fresh on the heels of their Photo Workshop at Deitch Gallery, Levi’s has opened up a new Premium concept store in the Meatpacking District at 414 West 14th St., just past 9th Ave. Continuing with the all-American theme, the shop has a modern Western set-up that has a quaint feel to it from the Pendleton Native American blankets to the saloon style tailoring nook towards the back of the store. Levi’s maximized the use of their space so that everything was aesthetically pleasing while, at the same time, not making the store feel too cluttered. No waste of space, done in good taste. Make sure to check out the all of the dope premium offerings at the new shop soon.

Events, Fall 2010, Product

The LTD fam had the opportunity to attend the unveiling of Levi’s Men’s & Women’s collections for 2011 at the Levi’s Photography Workshop this past Thursday, November 4th, at the Deitch Gallery. Free alcoholic beverages were provided along with a performance by the British band The Duke Spirit. Their new washing technique for jeans saves 40.6 litres of water per jean, hence the empty gallons of water displayed above the stage. In addition to showcasing their new line of clothing, they also had a rental area for vintage cameras where participants were encouraged to print and display their work on the wall adjacent from the rental space. Great execution and event well done Levi’s, much props.

Levi’s® announces “Levi’s® Sherpa-Lined Trucker Jacket by Opening Ceremony”, one in a series of special edition Made in the USA Trucker Jackets for Fall 2010
This fall, Levi’s® has collaborated with 5 brands to create a series of special edition Levi’s® Work Wear Trucker Jackets, all hand-crafted in the USA. Whether they integrate a signature work wear technology like Filson’s oiled tin cloth, or pay tribute to the distinct aesthetic of a group of American workers, each jacket explores the endless potential of Levi’s® iconic garment through the lens of the respective partnering brand.
Thus far this season, we have unveiled truckers from this series, designed in partnership with Filson and Billy Reid.
The latest, arriving in-stores now, is the launch of a new work wear-inspired trucker jacket designed in collaboration with downtown New York’s leading fashion boutique Opening Ceremony. The Trucker features a patchwork of rigid denims as well as a traditional work wear fabric: the railroad stripe. The inclusion of sherpa into the jacket makes it perfect for cold weather and serves as a nod to the ranchers that popularized the Trucker jacket throughout the last century. This jacket is shrunken down and fits short and snugly. It comes in both a men’s and women’s version and is accompanied by a matching unisex 505 in the customized Opening Ceremony fit.
The Levi’s® Sherpa Lined Trucker Jacket and Railroad Striped 505 by Opening Ceremony will be available this week at Opening Ceremony stores and better boutiques worldwide as well as on Levi.com in the US.
The jacket will retail for $300.00 and the 505 jeans will retail for $210.00.
