Converse continues its commitment as a catalyst for freedom of expression and underlines the iconic footwear brand’s longstanding connection with music by shining a spotlight on the incomparable British music scene. On October 6th, Converse will release the first of two original musical collaborations featuring Bernard Sumner from Bad Lieutenant, New Order and Joy Division, Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard (Hot Chip) and Hot City, followed by the release of the accompanying music video on November 2nd. The second track, featuring legendary musician Graham Coxon of Blur, Paloma Faith and Bill Rider Jones, formerly of the Coral, will be released next January. Both tracks will be available to music fans globally via free download at www.converse.co.uk and authorized Converse websites around the world.
The UK music scene is recognized globally for its pioneering and unparalleled creative influence,” said Geoff Cottrill, Chief Marketing Officer of Converse. “We wanted to create a platform to celebrate this, from the icons of British music talent to the more emerging artists. We are extremely excited about what we have in store for the next 12 months for Converse fans worldwide. Bernard Sumner is an extraordinary talent at the heart of British music and by collaborating with kindred spirits Alexis and Joe from Hot Chip and up-and-coming visionaries Hot City, this was the perfect way to kick-off the campaign.”
As a teaser to the launch of the forthcoming track, Converse has released a short film featuring Bernard Sumner, the first installment in a series of three being distributed alongside the new track and featuring each of these outstanding musicians.
