Freddie Gibbs x Reebok Classics

Reebok Classics and Rock The Bells bring you the exclusive: Classic Albums by Classic Artists featuring Freddie Gibbs. Freddie Gibbs is signed to Young Jeezy’s CTE label and has joined up with Chip the Ripper, along with Chuck Inglish and Mikey Rocks of The Cool Kids to create P.O.C.  He released the LP Str8 Killa in 2010 and was recently on the Rock the Bells 2011 tour. Reebok Classics and Rock the Bells sat down with Freddie to discuss his favorite classic albums like Erykah Badu’s Baduism and NAS’s Illmatic along with what he wants people to feel when they listen to his music.

In the film, he talks about teaming with fellow Chicagoan Kanye West to produce his second gold record and working with J Dilla one last time before his passing.

Here is the next instalment from the Classic Albums by Classic Artists series.

Reebok sat down with Raekwon just before he hit the road for Rock the Bells and got the real story of how he hooked up with Nas and Ghostface Killah to record “Verbal Intercourse” and make his classic album.

Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… sold over 1.1 million copies in the United States, pioneered the Mafioso rap genre, and became one of the most critically acclaimed hip-hop albums of all time.  Often referred to as “The Purple Tape”, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx features many classic songs including “Verbal Intercourse”.

Ms. Lauryn Hill discusses her 1998 multi-Grammy winning album ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ as part of the exclusive film series ‘Classic Albums By Classic Artists’ presented by Reebok Classics & Rock The Bells.

The latest installment of the film series focuses on the artist and her landmark multi-platinum selling album. “I make the music that I want to hear and when you find that other people want to hear that too… how could you not be excited about that,” Ms. Hill notes. She goes on to say “I made a piece of music from a sincere place and I think that sincerity has no choice but to resonate with people.”

The ROCK THE BELLS 2011 FESTIVAL SERIES–presented by Boost Mobile in association with GUERILLA UNION and powered by BlackBerry–kicked off this past Saturday in Los Angeles and will head to San Francisco this Saturday, August 27. The festival features seminal artists performing their classic albums as well as performances from up-and-coming hip hop artists.

Reebok x Rock The Bells “Classic Albums by Classic Artists”

Our good folks over at Reebok have partnered with Rock The Bells to develop 14 short films titled “Classic Albums by Classic Artists”. Each artist will delve into the inspiration behind their most iconic album and provide never before heard insight into the process that marked the beginning of their careers. Reebok kicks off the film series with Nas, as he explains the creative genius behind Illmatic, followed by the 2nd installment with Cypress Hill. In the coming weeks, additional films will be released featuring Rock The Bells headliners Lauren Hill, Common, Raekwon, Erykah Badu, and Mobb Deep along with 7 up and coming artists also performing on the iconic 4 city tour.
